Why Recycle?

The forthcoming WEEE directive is aimed at encouraging reuse and recycling and minimising the negative environmental aspects of disposal.

Putting computers into landfill will no longer be an option under the 'Special Waste Regulations' and the WEEE directive, which will come into force this year.

Consider this
Monitor tubes are constructed with glass containing 23% lead oxide
Screen lumiphors contain cadmium, zinc and various rare earth oxides
Printed circuit boards are constructed using brominated fire retardants and lead based solder
Batteries may contain cadmium, lithium mercury and nickel
